This Eid al-Adha, with your help we aim to put a smile on the face of our poor and needy Muslims brothers and sisters in and around Sarawak. They should also get the chance to forget their sorrows and make the most out of Eid. Our charity partners, Yayasan Ikhlas will be arranging Udhiya or Qurbani of cows this Eid ul Adha.

Yayasan Ikhlas’s Korban Mission is on its 8th year. This year they aim to deliver Korban in every district and area in Sarawak especially to the underprivileged and muallaf.

Why Sarawak? You’d be surprised to know that in the rural areas of Sarawak, many people have never tasted meat or beef in their lives due to its far proximity and the expensive cattle prices (up to RM 4,000-7,000) which is immensely expensive for them.

In a village at Penampang, Sabah’s children could be seen walking 2 to 3 hours just to collect a piece of fresh meat at the slaughtering centre. We have all seen a cow at some point, but there are some part in Borneo that have never seen a cow in their entire life.

The meat is not distributed randomly to anyone who comes asking for it. After careful research and proper verification a list is formed of those who are the most needy. The preparation of this list is done with a lot of care so that meat reaches those who are really deserving.

The team on the ground will be fulfilling all Islamic principles and requirements as per proper Islamic teachings. The meat will be distributed to the most poor and deserving families in and around Sarawak.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The best of deeds is making the believer happy, such as covering his ‘awrah, satisfying his hunger or meeting his need.” [Tabarani]
