My name is Yasir Arafat and I am 13 years old. I am from Rakhine State, Myanmar. I am a Year 1 secondary student at Rohingya Education Centre, Pulau Pinang.

I like playing football in my free time and I really like Lionel Messi. Not just a football player, but he is an influencer as well. I have a dream that one day I am going to be someone big so that I can also inspire people to change and live in a better manner.

My ambition is to become a teacher. If I had a chance, I would like to teach English to all refugees. Not only Rohingya, but all people that do not have the privilege and access to proper education.

My father get paid on a daily basis. If no work, then that means no salary for him. Life is tough at times, but it has become harder now with the lock-down.

Yasir is currently enrolled and attending Form 1 at Rohingya Education Centre, Pulau Pinang (secondary). He is 13 years old and was born in Myanmar.

Yasir has recently completed SPSR Year 2019.

Yasir’s father is the sole breadwinner who works as a daily wage labourer while his mother is a housewife. Yasir aspires to become a teacher and build a bridge of opportunity for other refugees around the world.

Funds will be used to cover the fees for his Secondary Education at Rohingya Education Centre, Pulau Pinang. The funds will also provide him the required basic amenities. Your donations to this campaign today might see Yasir become a teacher who is a source of learning and empowerment for so many under privileged children across the world in just a few years time. What a worthy investment that is!
