  • Rebuilding their homes is a key priority to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for the affected families

Campaign Story

A devastating earthquake has shattered the lives of our brothers and sisters in Herat, Afghanistan. The ground trembled with a magnitude of 6.3, leaving behind a trail of unimaginable destruction and heartache.

On that fateful day, lives were shattered, homes crumbled, and an entire community was thrust into a state of despair and uncertainty.

The need for this campaign is urgent, as the affected individuals are facing unimaginable challenges and are in desperate need of our help. Families have been torn apart, children left without shelter, and loved ones lost in the rubble. The survivors are grappling with the trauma of the disaster, their lives forever changed in an instant.

Afghanistan has been hit by one of the deadliest earthquakes in history.

More than 2,400 people have been killed and at least 2,000 injured, levelling thousands of homes. Unknown numbers are buried in the rubble of ruined, often mud-built homes. Reports indicate that families are digging with bare hands to rescue others. This is a developing campaign and more information will be added as we get updates from the ground.

Our ground partners are continuously monitoring the situation and responding to emergency aid requests. The numbers are increasing as you read this and the Afghani public needs all the help and support that it can get. Let's start with just MYR 10. Donations to this campaign will be used to provide emergency relief and food aid to Afghanis affected by the earthquake. As the situation progresses the team will focus on rehabilitation and construction works.

Donations will be used to provide:

  • Ready-to-eat food
  • Drinking water and clean water
  • Supplies for women and babies
  • Tents and blankets
  • Medical assistance, medicines, hygiene kits
  • Other aid-related logistics

The latest earthquake came at a time when Afghanistan is battling a severe humanitarian disaster. According to the UN, 93% of households in Afghanistan suffer food insecurity. Lucien Christen, from the Red Cross, said Afghanistan's 'dire economic situation' meant 'they're [Afghan families] not able to put food on the table'.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. ...And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.” [Tirmidhi]
