In 2020, nearly 470,000+ students in Malaysia sat for the yearly SPM Examination. From among them, some students appear to be working part time, while some took time off for other activities. It was noticed that a large percentage of the students don’t have the adequate opportunities to utilise their time productively. In some cases, this leads the students to get involved in social ills.
In line with with the Malaysian government’s goal to develop a balanced and distinguished human resource, Pertubuhan Himpunan Lepasan Institusi Pendidikan Malaysia (HALUAN) launched a program that aims to help the students develop their mental, physical, spiritual and emotional skills in a systematic and guided manner.
HALUAN with Kolej Teknologi Darulnaim (KTD) and Institut Pengajian Tinggi Islam Perlis (IPTIP) will be organizing a course; “Kursus Jati Diri dan Kesukarelawanan Remaja” to meet the above mentioned goals. Some key highlights of this course include:
– This course will place a heavy emphasis on building a strong personality and identity among the students along with strong volunteering values to produce a well rounded work force for tomorrow.
– The course will expose the students to organizational, management and communication skills. It will help them improve and develop self-management skills. As the “new-normal” becomes work from home and a very dynamic work culture, these skills are deemed to be very important for Malaysia’s upcoming work force.
– This course aims to develop passionate individuals with a willingness to serve the community and to produce student leadership competency by the end of this course.
The Kursus Jati Diri dan Kesukarelawanan Remaja course will be conducted online and is open nationwide for all SPM graduates of the year 2020. At the initial stage we target to benefit 100 students.
The team will be working with various different universities and colleges to assess the success of the program as well as conduct monthly follow up programs at the state level for added benefit.
The campaign aims to raise RM 40,000 for this program. This cost includes:
– Operation: RM8,000
– Activity: RM7,500
– Human Resources and Module Development: RM16,500
– Studio/IT: RM8,000
Donations to this campaign will help power a very important course that aims to develop the leaders and upcoming workforce of Malaysia.
