Providing Meat for Rohingya Refugee Families in Bangladesh This Eid (Cow)

Key Points

Campaign Story

Rohingya are the indigenous Muslim ethnic minority of Burma (Myanmar) mainly residing in Arakan (Rakhine) state. The Rohingya are considered the most persecuted minority in the world. The plight of the Rohingya is well known at an international level. Nearly every other day we read or hear something about them. The discrimination against Rohingya Muslims not only kept them behind in the sociopolitical field, but in fact they have blocked Rohingya Muslims from their spiritual and mental development and growth too. The very essence of the discrimination against the Rohingya was based on their religion and race. The families in Myanmar still continue to face immense persecution and oppression.

This led to a mass human exodus from Myanmar to Bangladesh that turned Cox’s Bazar into the world’s largest refugee settlement that is now home to over 900,000 Rohingya refugees. Humanitarian organisations are overwhelmed by the vast scale of needs. In addition, more than half of the Rohingya refugees in the camps are children. Furthermore, the camps are under constant threat of flooding, landslides, fires, and other disasters.
This Eid al-Adha, we aim to put a smile on the face of our poor and needy Muslim brothers and sisters in refugee camps in Bangladesh. They should also get the chance to forget their sorrows and make the most out of Eid. Our charity partners will be arranging Udhiyah or Qurban of cows this Eid ul Adha without any extra middlemen in between in Kutupalong, Balukhali, andNayapara refugee camps.

After the qurban, the meat is not distributed randomly to anyone who comes asking for it. After careful research and proper verification, a list is formed of those who are the neediest families. The preparation of this list is done with a lot of care so that meat reaches those who are really deserving.

The team on the ground will be fulfilling all Islamic principles and requirements as per proper Islamic teachings. The meat will be distributed to the poorest and most deserving families in refugee camps in Bangladesh.

By donating to this qurban campaign, our donors have the opportunity to help feed our refugee brothers and sisters directly on the ground in Bangladesh. It’s not just about the quantity of the donation. The main aim is the quality of our donations and being a part of circulating good for the sake of Allah.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The best of deeds is making the believer happy, such as covering his ‘awrah, satisfying his hunger or meeting his need.” [Tabarani]

For these people finding sustenance is a challenge in itself and with their non-existent, meagre earnings, a good meal (like meat) is a luxury most have rarely experienced.

Your sacrifice done for these people will bring them huge relief and great joy on this auspicious occasion of Eid. Donations to this campaign will help provide meat packages to these poor and needy Muslims so that they also get the chance to forget their sorrows and make the most out of Eid.
