A house fire occurred on 14 October 2020 in Gelang Patah, Johor that destroyed Mrs. Norhidayah Binti Ahmad’s house completely along with everything inside of it. Her husband works as a fisherman and the family income is only MYR 300-500 a month. She has four children aged 4,6,12, and 14 years old respectively. The family was forced to relocate to a rumah rakit (boat-house) and have been staying there since September 2020. As can be seen in the pictures, there is no electricity, no toilet facilities, or water supply in the boat-house. In reality, it is quite dangerous for the children. What’s worse is that this has also laid down a heavy blow on the education of the 4 children. Because of living in such a dangerous and poor condition, they have no means to access their online classes.   

Waqaf An-Nur Corporation has been approved for the construction of a new house for the family with the expected project to commence in mid-October 2021. However, this approval only covers the cost of house construction excluding demolition costs of houses and household items such as furniture, electrical items and other necessities. The required cost for these essential items is MYR 15,000. 

Donations to this campaign will be used to help Madam Norhidayah Binti Ahmad to cover all of demolition costs of houses and essential household items such as furniture, electrical items and other necessities. Let’s start with just MYR 10 and help our brothers and sisters in need. The family is classified and verified as part of B40 and Asnaf (Zakat Eligible) by government agencies in Johor.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.” [Tirmidhi]
