Campaign Story

Sabah recorded the highest incidence of absolute poverty at 25.3%. The overall poverty statistics in Sabah shows there are 86,766 people comprising the hardcore poor, poor and economically marginalised in the state as of Dec 1. As of the third quarter of 2021, a total of 178,600 individuals or 9 per cent of the state’s population were reported unemployed.

Life might be returning back to normal for some of us, but it is far from over for many of the weaker sections of the society that were left reeling by the effects of the pandemic and were left with having no job, no money, and no food for their families. This is more so for the forgotten children and families in Sabah who live in poverty; who don’t have even the most basic necessities, or safe water. They live on the brink of survival every day, often lacking basic amenities like proper shelter and health care.

Despite the many challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought, it has truly been heart-warming to see Malaysians come together to help those in need. Ordinary Malaysians have become the unsung heroes of our nation, galvanising into quick action and providing assistance to vulnerable neighbours, families and communities.

– RM56 will help provide a family with basic food and medical supplies, milk powder and diapers for 2 weeks.

– RM112 will help provide a family with basic food and medical supplies, milk powder and diapers for a month.

– RM223 will help provide a family with basic food and medical supplies, milk powder and diapers for 2 months

Besides providing food aid which is short term, the team is also looking to meet the basic necessities required for each household. Access to clean water and electricity is one of the main goals. We are also planning to do community farming which the beneficiaries can use or sell the produce.

Donations to this campaign will help provide food aid and necessary amenities to underprivileged families in Sabah. Let’s start with just RM10 and become a part of an impactful change. Even the smallest of donations count.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.” [Tirmidhi]
