Campaign Story

Nigeria is a country where almost 80% of the population earn less than $2 a day and over 40% of children do not have access to primary education. In the rural communities of Northern Nigeria, roughly 60 million people live in extreme poverty and there is difficulty to attain even the basic of necessities.

A community that is united prospers in many aspects. Nothing unites a Muslim community more than their 5 daily congregational prayers in a masjid as it creates a sense of belonging and togetherness in the community. A masjid does not only act as a place for worship, it also plays a role as a community centre which brings the residents together to learn and grow as a unit. In addition, a masjid serves as a platform to pass on the beautiful teachings of Islam to the young and new learners and a place for joyous occasions and celebrations.

For every good and authentic practice that the people learn about, our donors will share in the reward for helping to facilitate it.

What is unique about this Masjid? This Masjid aims to be the first waqf created by the crypto community based solely on crypto donations. It is to be based in one of the poorest regions of Norther Nigeria that boasts of a large Muslim population. This will show the strong social impact potential that cryptocurrencies have. The construction of this Masjid includes:

- The Masjid has around 10 rows for the worshippers with more space in the outside courtyard as well.

- Building of a well to benefit the local community around the masjid.

- Building 3 classrooms on the side of the Masjid to facilitate knowledge sharing and basic classes for the children and women. It includes classes for memorizing the Quran as well as other Islamic sciences.

The pictures showcased here show the blueprint of the Masjid that is to be constructed.

The building of a masjid is a way for a person to continue to earn a multitude of blessings even after death. How?

Abu Hurairah reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).” [Muslim].

By helping establish this Masjid, our donors have the unique opportunity for being of the very first people to help their Muslim brothers and sisters directly on the ground in Zaria, Nigeria. For every prostration and beneficial knowledge gained by the people, the donors of the Masjid get an equivalent reward.

It’s not just about the quantity of the donation. The main aim is the quality of our donations and being a part of establishing a House of Allah.
