Campaign Story

The Syrian civil war has decimated the country for more than a decade, provoking a regional humanitarian crisis. Humanitarian needs in the country remain massive; 90% of the population is living under the poverty line, and some 14.6 million people, out of 18 million, are still in need of humanitarian assistance. This is an increase from 13·4 million last year.

One such example is in Tal Abyad, where a school destroyed by civil strife is currently being used as a shelter for families from infighting. Immediate funds are needed to rebuild this school. This includes electrical wiring, plumbing, restoring tiles and flooring etc. to enable classes to run again. 

20 housing units will be built for the 20 families currently taking shelter there. Immediately after, restoration works at the school will commence. 

The people - especially the children - of the border town of Tal Abyad are slowly trying to have some respite from the ongoing conflict. Years of civil strife have taken their toll but dedicated teams on the ground are doing their best to provide some normality in spite of all the atrocities.

Cinta Syria Malaysia has been at the forefront of pursuing this noble cause of rebuilding its future. Funds are needed urgently to restore the school back to its original purpose - to provide education. Currently, there are 20 families who are taking shelter at the dilapidated school building, where the next course of action is to build new homes for them. After this, the restoration of the school will progress at full speed InshaAllah.
