Resoles Food Bank: Help Feed B40 Community in Ampang

• The beneficiaries include the B-40 low income community around Ampang that have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown.
• Donations to this campaign will be used by Resoles Meletop Food Bank Project to help out more families and feed many more hungry children. 
• Donations will be used buy food items in bulk to be distributed as food packaged costing around RM40 per family. The aim is to help 100 families/week.

Campaign Story

The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has impacted hundreds if not thousands of households across Malaysia. It is reported that nearly a million poeple have lost their sources of income since the start of the lockdown which caused the unemployment rate to rise to 5.1% at the end of 2020 alone. The situation has only worsened in 2021. This had lead to more and more people unable to food on the table for their families. 

To give back to their neighbours and the society, OMS Kitchen launched 'Resoles Meletop Food Bank Project'. The food bank is located near a low income/B40 community. For the past many weeks, the food bank has preparing food and distributing it via their food bank for those affected around their premises on a weekly basis. Despite this continuous distribution, they noticed that the pangs of hunger were still widespread in the neighbourhood.

How Are Donations Used?

Donations to this campaign will be used to make sure that Resoles Meletop Food Bank Project can help out more families and feed many more hungry children.  The beneficiaries include the B-40 low income community around Ampang that have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown.

The donations will be used buy food items in bulk to be distributed as food packaged costing around RM40 per family. The aim is to distribute food to 100 families per week.

The food bank will also work with nearby grocery shops and distribute food vouchers to the affected families so they can source other basic necessities for their families such milk, diapers, and wet groceries such as meat and vegetables etc.

Sustainability

Resoles Meletop Food Bank Project is also working to empower the beneficiaries to become self sustainable by guiding them on how to generate income from other initiatives. These include becoming resellers of Resoles Meletop products or even work as part of the kitchen staff.

Resoles Meletop Food Bank Project will not charge any extra fee on the donations and the total disbursed amount will be used solely for the beneficiaries.
