The World Food Programme (WFP) reports that over 90% of Gaza’s population is facing acute food insecurity, with the entire population assessed under crisis or emergency food insecurity conditions (IPC Phase 3 or above).
Access to clean water is critically limited. UNICEF has reported that water production in Gaza has fallen drastically compared to pre-conflict levels, increasing the risk of disease and dehydration.
Casualty figures reported by Gaza health authorities and referenced by UN agencies indicate tens of thousands of deaths and injuries, dramatically increasing the number of female-headed households, orphaned children, and families without breadwinners.
During Ramadan, the burden intensifies. Families already struggling to survive must secure daily iftar and suhoor meals under extreme scarcity.
Campaign Story
In Gaza, Ramadan arrives under the shadow of devastation. Months of war have left families displaced, homes reduced to rubble, and livelihoods erased. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the vast majority of Gaza’s 2.2 million residents have been displaced, many multiple times. Overcrowded shelters, damaged infrastructure, and collapsed local markets have created one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent history.
Food insecurity has reached extreme levels. The World Food Programme (WFP) and IPC assessments confirm that nearly the entire population faces acute food insecurity, with conditions classified in crisis or emergency phases. Access to basic staples such as bread, rice, protein, and infant formula is severely disrupted.
Water scarcity further compounds suffering. UNICEF reports that safe water availability has dropped dramatically, placing children at heightened risk of dehydration and waterborne disease. For displaced families living in temporary shelters, clean drinking water is no longer guaranteed.
The human toll has been staggering. Tens of thousands have lost their lives, and many more have been injured. Families who once relied on stable incomes now depend entirely on humanitarian aid. Women-headed households, elderly individuals, and children face heightened vulnerability.
Outside of Ramadan, survival itself is a daily challenge. During Ramadan, the strain becomes even heavier. Preparing suhoor before dawn and securing a meal for iftar at sunset — acts that should bring spiritual peace — instead become sources of anxiety. This campaign exists to restore dignity during a sacred month.

The Prophetic Promise
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “He who provides a fasting person something with which to break his fast with, will earn the same reward as the one who was observing the fast, without diminishing in any way the reward of the latter.” [Tirmidhi]
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever helps ease one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and the Hereafter.” [Muslim]
You may never meet the family you help. But they will remember you at iftar. And many will raise their hands in duʿā’ for the one who fed them when they had nothing. Give today. Feed a fasting family in Cambodia.

Baby Formula Distribution
Across Gaza, one of the most heartbreaking realities of this crisis is the struggle many families face to feed their babies. With food supplies severely limited and basic necessities increasingly scarce, mothers are often left searching desperately for infant formula to nourish their children. For displaced families living in overcrowded shelters, the challenge of securing safe and adequate nutrition for their babies has become a daily worry. Alhamdulillah, thanks to your continued support, our team on the ground recently carried out a distribution of baby formula to displaced families in the Gaza Strip, reaching 100 beneficiaries. For these families, this support meant more than just food — it meant reassurance that their babies would not go to sleep hungry. As the needs continue to grow, your generosity can help us reach many more vulnerable infants and families who urgently depend on this lifeline.
The Gazze Destek Association (GDD) is a Turkish association established in 2014 in Istanbul to support and coordinate all efforts and to actively contribute to meeting the humanitarian and development needs of the Gaza Strip through coordinated and participatory humanitarian interventions based on the global sustainable development goals.
