Campaign Story
The price for 1 goat = MYR 370 (USD 78), however price for 1 goat in South Africa is MYR 786 (USD 167)
*Even if you're unable to purchase a whole goat, your contributions will collectively go towards the facilitation of this noble project and could possibly amount to a whole goat collectively.
The Qurbani Process:
Step 1: Imam secures your animal locally
Imams purchase the animals from local herdsman in an effort to support their businesses. This also allows for the Qurbani to take place in the village of the Imam.
Step 2: Voucher distribution
Imams make use of a voucher system to ensure an easy and professional distribution of meat.
Step 3: All rites observed by the Imam on the days of Eid
The Imam and his team oversee the entire Qurbani process.
Step 4: Packaging and distributing
Imams package and distribute meat parcels to all those in their communities, further elevating the position of the Imam.
Meat is a luxury for many in these countries.
Alhamdulillah, the IDP Qurbani program is a massive program because my community is so poor and it's only during Eid-ul-Adha that they taste meat. They feel remembered in the time of celebrating Eid by the Muslim ummah. This programme has had a significant impact on my community, including an increase in the number of Muslims attending masjids and the attendance of children at madrasahs. A touching story with a grandmother from my community is that she only tasted meat before her husband died in her 40s because she now can't afford to buy meat since she is very poor, but with the IDP Qurbani program she is very happy that at least once a year she tastes meat, and it is her dua that this year's Qurbani program is done in my centre so that she will be among the beneficiaries, Insha'Allah. Imam Ibrahim Taulo, Malawi
When you empower an Imam, you empower a community.
“This is the first time goats are being slaughtered at our own Masjid. It’s about 20 years now and to me it was like a miracle to hear that. People in my community are so thankful to IDP for considering them in the Qurbani program. Among the beneficiaries are; the elderly, the poor, families living with orphans, the bereaved families and many more. Qurbani program at Noor Madrassa will never be forgotten as this is the first time the program of such to be hosted at the place."
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The best of deeds is making the believer happy, such as covering his ‘awrah, satisfying his hunger or meeting his need.” [Tabarani]
For these people finding sustenance is a challenge in itself and with their non-existent to meager earnings, a good meal (like meat) is a luxury most have rarely experienced.
Your sacrifice done for these people will bring them huge relief and great joy on this auspicious occasion of Eid. Donations to this campaign will help provide meat packages to these poor and needy Muslims so that they also get the chance to forget their sorrows and make the most out of Eid.
Who are the Imam Development Program?
The Imam Development Program (IDP) was established in South Africa in 2014 with the aim to assist currently employed Imams and community leaders to empower, develop and refine their skills. We believe through developing effective community leaders; we can transform entire communities. Over the past 9 years the IDP has directly improved the lives of more than 400 Imams across 9 countries namely, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Tanzania. Through our training, we have enhanced the effectiveness of our Imams to better serve their communities. And through our Imams we can touch the lives of over 2,000 000 people each year.
