The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has hit the weaker sections of the Malaysian community very hard. Daily wage labourers have lost their jobs, small businesses have closed down, and we have single mothers who cannot afford to feed their babies. According to opinion research firm Merdeka Centre, five to eight per cent of Malaysia’s population will fall into poverty. That is about 1.5 to 2.4 million citizens in addition to the 405,000 households already living below the poverty line.

A report by Unicef and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), titled ‘Families on the Edge’, reveals  how bad the pandemic has  affected Malaysia’s ‘B40’ economic bracket – the bottom 40 per cent of households, by income. Some 40 per cent of the families surveyed ate more instant noodles than they had before Malaysia’s lockdown, during which many businesses were closed, while more than half ate more eggs. Many households of 3-4 people can afford only a single meal a day

Donations to this campaign will be used to give out essential kits to some of the most challenged and underprivileged sections of the society across Malaysia. These kits costing RM 100-200 each, includes necessities like food, groceries, and other things according to the needs of the beneficiaries. Adding on to the necessities, the kit will also include face-masks, hand sanitizers and other products to help the beneficiaries against the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. 

Majority of the beneficiaries of this campaign are Asnaf families. These essential kits will help:

– The Poor 
– The Homeless
– Single Mothers
– Orphans
– Old Folks Homes
– Madrasah and Tahfiz Schools
– Mosques 

All beneficiaries are carefully vetted and verified by the team on the ground connected to the local community. This strict verification procedure makes sure that your donations reach those who really need the aid.
