According to a March 2024 UNHCR report, after 9 years of war, Yemen remains one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Two-thirds of the entire population or 21.6 million people are in dire need of humanitarian assistance and protection services.
The long-term prospects for Yemen's infrastructure and food security have been completely disregarded by millions of people. Cholera epidemics and malnutrition rates are already terrible, and the COVID-19 pandemic has made things much worse by adding severe viral infections.
The ongoing conflict in Yemen has rendered many of the poorest people unable to eat meat on a daily basis.
