Campaign Story

We live in a time where despite having the worlds information at our fingertips, ignorance is prevailing. Muslims, especially the youth are finding it tough to find answers to their questions that the world throws at them. How can we tackle issues like atheism, apostasy, agnosticism, liberalism, feminism, LGBTQ+, and so much more in the light of what Islam teaches us? When not able to find satisfactory answers, many amongst the youth start to have doubts about their faith. A leading cause of this is also the fact that many search for answers from unsuitable and unqualified sources. With the boom of the internet, everyone has the platform to share their opinions and this becomes an issue when navigating sensitive matters like Islamic questions that requires expertise, training, and years of scholarly guidance. 

This is where IslamQA comes in. IslamQA was set up in 1996 by the esteemed scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Saalih al-Munajjid. He is a renowned senior scholar, author, Imam, and lecturer. He has been a student of some of the leading scholars and muftis of our time. Headed and supervised by Sheikh al-Munajjid, the IslamQA team is further complemented of other senior scholars, muftis, and subject matter experts from across the world. 

For 26 years, IslamQA has been serving people globally by providing scholarly, in-depth, researched answers to their questions on a wide range of issues. The platform has become a leading reference point for English speakers and seekers of knowledge globally whenever in need of an answer to a question that one might have. 

As the world keeps moving forward, new challenges will continue to arise. The platform has 1000’s of people wanting to ask questions on a daily basis, yet the team is only able to cater to the needs of a small percentage of them due to their current limited capacity.

Aims

1. To spread Islam and call people to it.
2. To spread Islamic knowledge and dispel ignorance among Muslims.
3. To respond to people’s needs by offering advice and answers based on evidence from religious texts.
4. To refute the specious arguments of doubters about Islam.
5. To advise people concerning day-to-day issues, by giving educational, academic advice about social and other matters.

 

The website strives to ensure that the answers are based on evidence from the Holy Qur’an and the soundly-narrated (saheeh) prophetic Sunnah, and are taken from the writings of the scholars, including the imams of the four madhhabs, Imam Abu Hanifah, Imam Malik, Imam ash-Shafi‘i and Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, as well as other earlier and later scholars, and from the statements of fiqh councils and seekers of knowledge who  conduct research in various Islamic specialties. The website avoids getting involved in issues that are of no benefit, such as empty arguments, trading insults and fruitless debates.

Education is one of the most powerful forms of sadaqah jariyah. A well might dry up, a copy of the Quran might get damaged, and a masjid might collapse. This is why it is said: 

العلم النافع وقف لا ينقطع

“Beneficial knowledge is an endowment which doesn’t end”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like one who did it.” [Muslim]
