Ethis Family: Building A Well in Memory of Majed Aljunaid

A Sadaqah Jariyah for Our Brother

It was with great sorrow that we found our that one of our team member Majed Aljunaid and many members of his family passed away in Yemen.

Majed studied in Malaysia and then interned with us at Ethis in 2019. He worked with the sales team at the time. We remember him as young, full of life, always respectful, a constant smile on the face and an overall fun brother. Soon after his internship he went back to Yemen and still kept in touch with many of us. He had just gotten married about 5 months ago and had also successfully completed the memorization of the Holy Quran. 

To Allah we belong and to Him is our return. Our hearts grieve for this loss but we don not say that which displeases Allah. We do that which benefits our brother in the grave and the afterlife. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him and his entire family the highest ranks in Jannah with the martyrs. 

With this campaign, we would like to call upon his colleagues, friends, and family to come together and build a well in his name so that it will be a source of continuous rewards and dua for him and his family. 

Campaign Story

Bangladesh is the eighth-most populous country in the world, with a population of over 164 million. Despite such a large number, major parts of the country don't have the ability to access clean drinking water and even today, many drink water from sources that are extremely unhygenic.

Over 4.9 million people in Bangladesh still do not have clean water close to home. Over 73 million people in Bangladesh – two in five – use contaminated water. Over a 1,000+ children under 5 die from diarrhoea each year. This is primarily caused by dirty water and poor toilets. 

This is Phase 2 of the water well project in Bangladesh. Alhamdulillah, AlKhairi has already built 40 water wells in Phase 1. The wells aim to provide a family access to clean drinking water for cooking, washing and most essentially drinking.

This campaign focuses on providing water well across rural villages in Bangladesh, along with periodic maintenance to ensure the well is properly maintained for the use of the communities. The water well is guaranteed to last 25 years and it can serve multiple family generations InshaAllah.

Sa’ad ibn Ubadah asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, “Which charity is best?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “A drink of water.” 
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him.” [Muslim]
