Campaign Story
Islam was introduced to Papua New Guinea in the 1980s by traders from the Asian regions. Today, there are approximately 7,000 to 10,000 Muslims in a country predominantly governed by principles of Christianity and Democracy with a 10 million total population density.
Muslims in Papua New Guinea are dispersed throughout the country.
Some live and work in cities, while others live in small towns or rural areas as subsistence farmers. As a result, the majority of Muslims in the National Capital District have meagre incomes and rely solely on allowances from their children who drop out of school to work and support their families.
Alhamdulillah last year we could be with our Muslim brothers and sisters in the Highlands region to provide iftar meals to 4 Masjid which consists of new reverts and the needy. We were so grateful to find them and get the chance to provide assistance and help throughout the last 10 days of Ramadan with our limited resources.
This year we would like to invite you to join us to encourage the minority Muslims and first revert generation Muslims in Papua New Guinea just like the time of the Prophet so that they can enjoy a better Ramadan this year.
It will boost their Iman by encouraging them to fast as Muslims for the first time.
We will organize food distribution all throughout Papua New Guinea in remote areas where they never experience Ramadan before.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “He who provides a fasting person something with which to break his fast with, will earn the same reward as the one who was observing the fast, without diminishing in any way the reward of the latter.” [Tirmidhi]
