Campaign Story

Israeli forces killed six Palestinians in confrontations in the West Bank this week, and clashes between police and Palestinians broke out Friday after early prayers in Masjid al-Aqsa. Israeli police entered in force before dawn on Friday, as thousands of worshippers were gathered at the masjid for early morning prayers. Israeli forces used tear gas and flash grenades at the holy site injuring over 158 Palestinians and over 300 were detained.   Israeli forces had hindered the arrival of ambulances and paramedics to the mosque, as Palestinian media said dozens of injured worshippers remained trapped inside the compound. They were attacking the mosque staff, normal people, elders, and young people.

Emergency Response

For worshipers and visitors of Al-Aqsa Mosque who require health care and emergency treatment, Ummet Waqf operates two mobile clinics within the compound of Masjid Al-Aqsa during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. Medical equipment and tools necessary for conducting examinations, medical consumables, and medicines of various kinds are provided in the clinics, and a number of paramedics, nurses, and doctors conduct examinations and provide needed treatment. A team of nurses and paramedics transport sick patients, who require hospital treatment, from Masjid Al-Aqsa to a hospital in a special ambulance. Ummet Waqf helps to rehabilitate volunteer teams, which include 30 people, to assist paramedics, nurses, doctors, and patients in providing their needs, fulfilling their services, and maintaining visitors' comfort.    More than 250,000 people are expected to visit the holy Al-Aqsa in Ramadan and in other months so it is important that the guards know how to assist the people in case of a medical emergency. $1,000 for medical emergency helps in providing:
- Examination costs and medical supplies.
- Medicines to be distributed free of charge.
- Iftar meals for workers and volunteers.
- Transferring emergency and severe medical cases to the hospital.
- Ambulance expenses.
- The expenses of paramedics and doctors, and a volunteer bonus.   Last year also, Israeli occupying forces attacked during Ramadan. We raised over RM300,000 that helped in paying hospitals bills, administering medical aid for injured residents in their houses, as well as providing financial aid.

Donations to this campaign will provide emergency aid, food parcels, first aid, medical equipment,  temporary accommodations to the displaced residents in Jerusalem.
