Campaign Story
Price for 1 portion of a cow: MYR 890 (USD 188)
*Even if you're unable to purchase a share of a cow, your contributions will collectively go towards the facilitation of this noble project.
For decades, the Rohingya, a Muslim minority in Myanmar, have endured systematic discrimination, violence, genocide, and persecution. Stripped of citizenship, basic rights, and vital services, they have been trapped in a cycle of poverty and anguish. The crisis reached a climax in 2017 with a severe military crackdown, compelling hundreds of thousands of Rohingya to flee their homes, seeking safety in neighboring nations such as Malaysia.
In light of the profound suffering endured by the Rohingya, UAIM has launched Qurban campaigns to aid Rohingya refugees in Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. These initiatives aim to offer vital food assistance during Eid al-Adha, a significant Islamic festival commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's (Abraham's) obedience to God by his willingness to sacrifice his son.
The Qurban campaign mobilizes donors to contribute funds for the purchase of livestock, such as cows, goats, or sheep, which are then ritually sacrificed in accordance with Islamic guidelines. The meat from these sacrifices is distributed among Rohingya families residing in refugee camps, providing them with nourishing sustenance during Eid celebrations.
Beyond addressing the immediate need for food, the campaign stands as a symbol of solidarity and compassion towards the Rohingya community. It unites individuals from diverse backgrounds, including local Muslims, humanitarian organizations, and volunteers, who collaborate to make a positive difference in the lives of those impacted by the Rohingya crisis.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The best of deeds is making the believer happy, such as covering his ‘awrah, satisfying his hunger or meeting his need.” [Tabarani]
For these people finding sustenance is a challenge in itself and with their non-existent to meager earnings, a good meal (like meat) is a luxury most have rarely experienced.
Your sacrifice done for these people will bring them huge relief and great joy on this auspicious occasion of Eid. Donations to this campaign will help provide meat packages to these poor and needy Muslims so that they also get the chance to forget their sorrows and make the most out of Eid.
