Campaign Story

It's been a year since the Covid-19 pandemic hit al-Quds. The blessed month of Ramadan is here and al-Quds is still recovering from the impact of the pandemic.  The city of al-Quds and the Old City in particular were the worst hit as they ranked among the most closely packed cities in the world. This caused a lot of people to lose their jobs, small businesses closed down and more than 90% of daily wage workers lost their means of livelihood. Despite the pandemic, the occupation forces continued their terrorism and demolished many houses that brought the number of demolished establishments to 193 in 2020 alone.

Together with Ummet Vakfi on the ground in al-Quds, this campaign aims to help provide relief to the inhabitants of the third holiest site in Islam. Donations to this campaign will help in the following 4 ways:

1. Iftar Meals
Distribution of Iftar meals to the people living near Masjid al-Aqsa as well as those in the compound of Masjid al-Aqsa.

2. Ramadan Food Basket
Providing essential food baskets for the poor and needy around masjid al-Aqsa so that they can also have a tension free month of worship in Ramadan.

3. Eid Family Gifts
Buying new Eid clothes and brining smiles back on to the faces of the children of al-Quds.

4. Providing Clean Water
Daily distribution of water bottles in Masjid al-Aqsa. This is one of the most intensive and extensive activities that seeks to serve as many worshippers in the blessed masjid as possible.

This is a unique opportunity for our donors to directly reach out and help Masjid al-Aqsa and our brothers and sisters in Palestine. In 2020, Ummet Vakfi was able to benefit 1,32,123 beneficiaries on the ground with over 153,905 iftar meals, 25,002 food boxes, and 2,000 eid clothes distributed. Along with this, the team also helped support 1,331 indebted families and 1,264 workers in need.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.” [Tirmidhi]
