There are many more wanting to become like Husna. The school has identified 25 students with the same potential. Their curriculum is holistic, to produce students equipped in the Islamic sciences, science and technology and character-building leadership skills. 

 

 

Over 26.42 million Indonesians live below the poverty line and have limited resources and capacity. Education as one of the children’s basic services has been experiencing serious challenges and disruptions throughout and post the Covid-19 pandemic, which has devastated educational and learning opportunities for children. A Save the Children global study states that in Indonesia, 79% of children living in rural areas are unable to access adequate learning materials.

There are many children in Indonesia today, who cannot access basic education due to the economic conditions of their families. The families are heavily burdened with economic hurdles and find it tough to even feed their families properly. With the Covid-19 pandemic, matters got worse, and the cost of education continues to increase from year to year. This has resulted in the lower middle class not having access to education with many children being forced to drop out and do odd jobs. The learning crisis is widely viewed as a threat to the future and well-being of an entire generation of children — as well as to global and national development, growth and prosperity of the home to the largest Muslim population in the world.

One school that is trying to make a change is the An Nuur Lunang Islamic Boarding School Foundation located in Pesisir Selatan Regency in West Sumatra Province. It has been constantly striving to help facilitate educational programs for children who have a high interest to learn but cannot afford it as they come from weak economic backgrounds. The school currently hosts nearly 300 such children. 

Cost Breakdown for Scholarships

This campaign allows our donors to act as foster parents, and sponsor the education of these orphans and asnaf children. Just MYR 550/month (USD 124) can change the life of an underprivileged child. The scholarship covers daily food, boarding room, school allowance, uniform, and tuition fees.

Food = MYR 14/Day

Tuition Fee = MYR 52/Month

Uniform = MYR 104/Year 

Accommodation = MYR 691/Year

Clothing = MYR 105/Year

Total cost for supporting 27 students for an entire academic year is approximately MYR 175,487 (USD 39,422).

The school follows the national curriculum so upon completion, the students will get certificates recognized by the Ministry of Education of Indonesia. During the period of study, the students will also complete the memorization of the Quran with the school's incorporated Tahfiz program.
