Save Halifah: Mother of 6 Needs Emergency Blood Transfusion
or donate via
GoodDeeds International has been actively working to provide aid and empower remote group of communities with a population of about 1,500 people on the islands of Mabong, Buyu Besar, Buyu Kechil and Pasir Panjang in the far Eastern corner of the Riau Province in Indonesia. Why these places? Due to their remote location these communities have been neglected and are in need of serious aid.
Mdm Halifah is a 49 year old homemaker and mother of 6 from a fishing household. She has been suffering from Cervix cancer for quite sometime. On 19th August, she began to bleed profusely. She lost so much blood that she became extremely weak. On 20th August, in an emergency, she had to be rushed to the hospital on the island of Batam as she needed blood transfusion urgently. This hospital is located about 150 km by sea from the island of Mabong where she lived.
To save her life the family had no choice but to hire a speed boat to sent her to the hospital as there are no public transport in the area. The family barely makes ends meet and this extra medical expense has put them into a very desperate situation. In the name of medical facilities, the islanders only have a poorly equipped clinic that is manned by a midwife. Access to medical facilities and a qualified doctor is only available at Tajur Biru which is 55km away. What makes the matter worse is that there are no readily available means of transport in cases of emergencies.
1. Cost of transportation for the speed boat
2. Local transportation
3. Hospital fees
4. Accommodation and meals for the accompanying adult
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.” [Tirmidhi]
