A Bus Ride to Jannah: Support New Muslims in Papua New Guinea
or donate via
Papua New Guinea (PNG) is a large island nation situated near Indonesia and Australia in the southwestern Pacific. Papua New Guinea is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. As of 2019, it is also the most rural, as only 13.25% of its people live in urban centres. There are an estimated 5,000 plus and growing Muslims in the country which is predominantly Christian.
This young and new small Muslim community in Papua New Guinea needs your help. In Popondetta , Northern Province of PNG, the community has registered PNG Nur Education Centre to provide General and Islamic Education services to both Muslim and non-Muslim children in the area. We intend to establish education for grades 1-12. This is in compliance with the policies of the educational system in PNG.
The centre is looking to buy a 25 seater bus to become independent, sustainable and help generate income to support their educational dawah activities and centre. The bus will be used to generate income by providing transportation services in the region. The income from this will help in developing and propagating the message of Islam in the Northern Province of PNG.
How? The income from the bus will be used to cover the immediate bus expenses including: fuel, maintenance, tyres, driver and off-siders wages and registration fees. The profits will also be used to support Islamic programs, pay teachers, pay bills and rent of the Islamic centre and as this project grows, the funds will be distributed to the poor Muslims to encourage them to start their own businesses. The cost of the 25 seater bus is approximately K68,000 (USD19,000).
This is a unique opportunity for our donors to support and empower a new community of Muslims in Papua New Guinea just like the early days of Madinah when a new Muslim community was being formed.
The Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.” [Tirmidhi]
