Empowering Imams and Poor Villages: Qurban 2022 in Zimbabwe (Goat)
or donate via
What Is Special About Qurban in Zimbabwe?
The Imam Development Project (IDP) team under the supervision of Sheikh Bilal Ismail focuses on building and empowering Imams to strengthen communities. Via this campaign, the Imams in remote villages under IDP supervision will be given the funds to carry out qurban for their villages. These villages do not get to have meat for the whole year. Getting the meat from the local Imam would make the villagers feel more connected to the Imam and the Masjid. This campaign will also help support local herdsmen and farmers. Overall, this would enhance the position of the Imam and open more doors for educational and empowerment programs.
Cost of 1 Goat: RM 344 (USD $78 | SGD 109)
The price is expected to go up by RM44 ($10) if the payment is done after 1st July 2022.
– The Imam secures the animal locally from the local herdsmen to support their business. This also allows for slaughter in the village itself instead of the commercial areas which are very far from the village and incur additional costs.
– The animal is cared for by the Imam and the Masjid.
– The Imam and Masjid team will oversee the entire qurbani process. The team will slaughter, parcel, and distribute meat throughout the village using a voucher system.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The best of deeds is making the believer happy, such as covering his ‘awrah, satisfying his hunger or meeting his need.” [Tabarani]
For these people finding sustenance is a challenge in itself and with their non-existent to meager earnings, a good meal (like meat) is a luxury most have rarely experienced.
Your sacrifice done for these people will bring them huge relief and great joy on this auspicious occasion of Eid. Donations to this campaign will help provide meat packages to these poor and needy Muslims so that they also get the chance to forget their sorrows and make the most out of Eid.
