Campaign Story
Indonesia is one of the largest Muslim populations in the world. Indonesia ranks 73rd out of 116 countries where 26.5 million people are living below the poverty line. 46.13% of them are experiencing food insecurity. Covid-19 restrictions have pushed an extra 1.1 million Indonesians into poverty, according to the World Bank. Nearly 10% of Indonesia is classified as poor and these are just official numbers.
This Ramadan, ACT will prepare and distribute fresh iftar meals in food trucks in areas that need aid the most. Most of the distribution will be near the ACT humanitarian public kitchens that are set up in disaster-affected areas.
Each meal delivered by the food truck includes rice, vegetables, meat, a side dish and mineral water. This costs IDR 30,000 (MYR9 / USD2 / SGD3) per pack.
Other food distribution happening in the ACT kitchens consists of a rice box, fried chicken and tea. This costs IDR 20,000 (MYR6 / USD1.5 / SGD2) per box.
This Ramadan, let us come together and make sure that our Indonesian asnaf brothers and sisters have enough to feed their families and that they can also make the most of the blessed month of Ramadan.
Donations to this campaign will help provide iftar for needy and asnaf families across Indonesia. We need to help provide Iftar for at least a 1000 people.
Each beneficiary is carefully vetted and verified by the team on the ground that is connected to the local community.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever gives Iftar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the reward of the fasting person in the slightest.” [Tirmidhi] Imagine, if you help feed ten fasting brothers and sisters. You would get the rewards for their fasting as well.
