Campaign Story

The bottom 40% (B40) income group in Malaysia are extremely susceptible to health issues and economic downturns. The B40 have been the hardest section of the society to be hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. Many have lost their only source of income and the pandemic accompanied with the subsequent lockdowns has left many of them struggling to even put a single meal on the table. 5.6% of Malaysian households are currently living in absolute poverty.
This Eid al-Adha, we aim to put a smile on the face of our oppressed brothers and sisters in Johor, Malaysia. The meat is distributed to after careful research and proper verification a list is formed of those who are the most needy families. The preparation of this list is done with a lot of care so that meat reaches those who are really deserving. Many don’t have access to refrigerators etc to keep meat for long periods of time. The list of beneficiaries include students, orphans, single mothers, zakat eligible recepients, indigenous people, families severely affected by Covid-19 pandemic.

What Is Special About Waqafa Qurban? After the qurban period, 10% from the net profit will channelled into Sunduq Infaq as part of a sustainable Waqf. While managing food security, Waqafa also promotes fair distribution of wealth. The meat will be distributed by the 4th day of Qurban. A portion of the qurban meat will be refrigerated to be distributed throughout the year as these beneficiaries don’t have access to meat after the qurban period.

The team on the ground will be fulfilling all Islamic principles and requirements as per proper Islamic teachings. It’s not just about the quantity of the donation. The main aim is the quality of our donations and being a part of circulating good for the sake of Allah.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The best of deeds is making the believer happy, such as covering his ‘awrah, satisfying his hunger or meeting his need.” [Tabarani]

For these people finding sustenance is a challenge in itself and with their non-existent to meager earnings a good meal (like meat) is a luxury most have rarely experienced.

Your sacrifice done for these people will bring them huge relief and great joy on this auspicious occasion of Eid. Donations to this campaign will help provide meat packages to these poor and needy Muslims so that they also get the chance to forget their sorrows and make the most out of Eid.
