Just RM 115 Can Feed A Poor Malaysian Family This Ramadan
Malaysia is a country with a population of 32 million where about about 61% of them are Muslim. As per certain surveys 900,000 of the total population lives below the poverty line for various known reasons. Many of the people in this situation don’t have access to adequate basic needs like food, accommodation, healthcare, hygiene, sanitation and education etc. They have very limited access to nutritional food and are also vulnerable to all kinds of diseases and are prone to acute malnutrition due to extreme poverty.
In 2021, a total of 5,020 families all over Malaysia were able to benefit from the food boxes that were distributed throughout Ramadan. Watch Updates
Over 2 years, the Covid-19 pandemic had a detrimental affect across Malaysia. Many of the less privileged sections of the society are facing severe hardships because of it. Ramadan is a month of remembrance and worship. But for many of our brothers and sisters, they don’t have enough food in the house for the whole family to even have iftar properly. The number of suicide cases has alarmingly shot up across the country as well.
Waqaf An-Nur is organizing different kinds of support program for underprivileged people to support the weaker sections of the society and one of the most appreciated programs is the “Ramadan Food Basket”. We should come forward and make sure that our neighbours have adequate food to eat and can also make the most of the blessed month of Ramadan.
Donations to this campaign will help provide a Ramadan Food Basket for a family of 5. These families are from the Asnaf, B40, and B50 communities in Malaysia.
How is the financial aid distributed? The beneficiaries are selected based on the criteria set by the Johor Religious Council(MAIJ) and includes:
– Asnaf registered under MAIJ
– B40 registered with the District Officer Office
– Workers/ Family heads that have lost their jobs
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.” [Tirmidhi]
